Fathers are supposed to protect their children, but one man not only didn’t protect his 4-year-old disabled son, but he also used the little boy as a hostage.

As according to Kosmo, a 28-year-old man brought his 4-year-old disabled son along with him as he went on a crime spree with a long knife around Pasir Gudang and Johor Bahru.

The Seri Alam District Acting Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said that the suspect also threatened to kill his son with the knife when police attempted to arrest him. Based on reports by Berita Harian, the man’s son is autistic.

Thankfully, the suspect was stopped before he could do anything to the little boy after a struggle with the police.

“Earlier, at 12.10am midnight, the suspect brought his son along before threatening and fleeing in a car belonging to an Indonesian man at Taman Air Biru, Pasir Gudang. Then, at 12.50am, the suspect once again brought his son along as he robbed a 55-year-old homeless woman in Dataran Larkin before kidnapping the victim,” he shared.

“However, the victim managed to escape after the vehicle ran out of fuel, with the help of a security guard at a school near Pasir Gudang.”

The little boy was also with the suspect when he robbed two Bangladeshi petrol station workers in Pasir Gudang at 3am on the same night.

“After police received information regarding the incidents, an integrated operation was carried out to capture the suspect, who was found in his home in Taman Air Biru at 8pm. The suspect became aware of the officers’ presence, picked up his son and threatened to kill him if the officers approached him,” he added.

The police officers on the scene took almost two hours to persuade and calm the suspect down but failed to do so, forcing officers to use reasonable and appropriate force to rescue the suspect’s son.

They believe that the suspect was under the influence of drugs during the crime binge, and is going through family problems.

This case is now being investigated under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery and Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.

We genuinely hope that the little boy, and everyone else who had to endure the man’s crime wave, are okay.
