Malaysia’s rank in the list of countries affected by Covid-19 is declining steadily, with the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) showing promising results.

According to Sinar Harian, Malaysia now ranks 30 on 6 April compared to rank 17 on 19 March this year, with a total of 3,662 confirmed cases including 1,005 recoveries and 61 deaths at the time of writing.

Statistical data from John Hopkins University show that other countries like Chile, Denmark and India have begun to overtake Malaysia’s placing on the list

The fact is supported by Associate Professor Dr Malina Osman from the Public Health (Epidemiology/Biostatistics) Department of Microbiology and Medical Parasitology from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She stressed that the latest Covid-19 infection cases in Malaysia has begun to show a sharp curve in recent days.

“The MCO since 18 March have indeed yielded positive results with the estimated range of Covid-19 infections being around 110 to 235 cases over the past few days,” she said.

“While there is an expectation of a third wave of increasing cases of Covid-19 infection, we see the latest Ministry of Health (MOH) statistics continue to show better results.”

That’s great news to hear! This just shows that staying at home is extremely important to flatten the curve. Hopefully the number of cases will start to decline soon!
