@playapex recently announced the debut of a new character named “Alter” in the popular game Apex Legends, portrayed by a Malaysian motion capture actor, @chelseasik.
Born and raised in Malaysia
In the interview, Chelsea revealed that she was born and raised in Malaysia. At the age of 15, she moved to the United States to pursue her passion for acting, a decision that she says has changed her life.
During the audition, she dedicated herself to portraying the character with a balance of playfulness and danger, ensuring that every aspect of the character’s personality was vividly brought to life.
Chelsea went on to describe the audition experience for the role of Alter as incredibly enjoyable, noting it was the most unconventional audition tape she has ever submitted.
“I hope you guys have fun playing Alter as much as I had fun bringing the character to life on that MoCap stage.”

According to Apex Legends Wiki, YingLing Lui, also known as Alter, is a new character that made its debut in Season 21 of Apex Legends.
In another video, @playapex shared a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the character Alter. Sophie Shepherd, an animator on the Apex Legends team, shared their approach to making Alter’s movements different to make it stand out.
“We worked with Chelsea Sik, our super talented MoCap actor, who nailed those spooky movements that really set Alter apart.”
Sophie also explained how this moment became iconic for the character, especially when you see Alter in the game’s lobby.
The character’s debut has sent netizens in a frenzy prompting them to flood the comment section with their reactions!
