Malaysia continues to strengthen efforts to build a safe, trusted, and resilient digital ecosystem through the organisation of the International Regulatory Conference (IRC) 2026 by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Themed “Shaping the Next Digital Era: Regulation, Resilience and Trust”, the two-day conference brings together more than 500 participants and 40 speakers from Malaysia, ASEAN, as well as various other countries.

A total of 10 dialogue sessions will cover key issues shaping the digital landscape, including online safety and scams, artificial intelligence (AI), data protection, cybersecurity, and digital platform accountability.

The success of digital transformation is not only measured through internet speed or network coverage, but the extent to which the public feels safe, protected, and confident using those services.

The outcomes of discussions throughout IRC 2026 are expected to serve as important input for the development of national policies and regulatory frameworks, including the Digital Infrastructure Policy currently being developed by the government to strengthen the resilience, sustainability, and readiness of the country’s digital infrastructure.

As a Council Member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Malaysia will strengthen regional and international cooperation in addressing cross-border challenges such as online scams, the spread of false information, cybersecurity threats, and data governance.

Through IRC 2026, Malaysia aims to reinforce international cooperation while encouraging a pragmatic, progressive, and people-centric regulatory approach.
