A heartwarming story has captured the public’s attention after a passenger took to social media to share a moving experience while flying from Taipei to Kuala Lumpur during the holy month of Ramadan.

In a post on Threads, Mashri (@mmmm_883366) recounted how, during his Malaysia Airlines flight, a member of the cabin crew approached him to ask if he was fasting. When he confirmed that he was, the crew member ensured his needs were met with exceptional care.

Confirming the time to buka puasa

As the story goes, the flight attendant informed Mashri that his meal would be kept aside and served later, as the time to break his fast would occur while they were still mid-air.

The cabin crew went the extra mile by consulting the captain to confirm the exact moment the sun would set at their current altitude.

“On 7 March, I flew from Taipei to Kuala Lumpur on flight MH367. One of the flight attendants asked if I was fasting,” Mashri wrote.

“He checked with the captain to confirm the exact time to break fast. At 7:05 PM, he returned with my meal and kindly informed me that the time to break fast above the clouds would be at 7:20 PM.”

Mashri described the moment as “a simple gesture that meant a lot”, adding that the incident truly made his journey special.

“The cabin crew showed great professionalism and compassion”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Mashri expressed his appreciation for the cabin crew’s kindness and attentiveness.

“They didn’t have to do it, but they went the extra mile to ensure I could break my fast at the right time. It shows how much they care about their passengers,” he said.

“My advice to fellow travellers is to always appreciate the small acts of kindness from those around us. The cabin crew showed great professionalism and compassion, and I’m truly grateful for that.”

“Malaysia Airlines cabin crew are really attentive when it comes to passengers who are fasting or about to break their fast. They’ll offer to hold your meal or serve it early, regardless of the crew’s race or religion. Very thoughtful, and it really makes you feel cared for.”

“I once flew with Malaysia Airlines during Ramadan to Seoul in 2018. One of the flight attendants kept my meal for breaking fast. She checked the exact time to break fast and came to wake me up to let me know it was time. She brought the meal warmed up. Malaysia Airlines’ hospitality, even from non-Muslim crew, is truly the best.”
