A video shared via MYNEWSHUB has been going viral online, showing a lorry slamming into a stationary motorcycle at a traffic light at KM13 of the Banting–KLIA road on May 14.
According to the post, moments after the accident, the lorry driver allegedly jumped out of his vehicle and tried to flee the scene.
The motorcyclist was killed on the spot
The crash was believed to be caused by brake failure, and the motorcyclist was killed on the spot, as reported by Kosmo.
The tragic incident, which happened around 1:30PM, claimed the life of a KLIA security guard in his 40s, who died on the spot.
Kuala Langat District Police Chief, Superintendent Akmalrizal Radzi, said the victim was riding a Yamaha 135LC from Banting to KLIA and had stopped at a red light where he was suddenly rear-ended by a lorry driven by a man in his 30s.
The rider was pinned underneath the lorry
Almalrizal added that the lorry driver, who wasn’t injured, showed up at the Kuala Langat District Police HQ’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division to file a report and give his statement.
“As a result of the crash, the rider was thrown off and pinned underneath the lorry. He died at the scene,” he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
