Following the incident where a young Malaysian man was slapped by an elderly man while eating in public during Ramadan, the young man stepped forward in an attempt to put the incident to rest.

Elijah Ling took to his TikTok page to thank the public for their support throughout this time before urging them to move on and allow the authorities to do their work.

He shared, “Thank you all for the support you have given me. It’s just that, let’s not extend the discussions to this case. We should allow the police to investigate it first. So, let’s not talk about this case anymore, let’s let the police do their work.”

Let’s instead focus on doing better!

Elijah then took the time to ask that the case not be politicised as he believes the case is merely a criminal act committed against him and has nothing to do with politics.

Instead, he wants the case to be used as a lesson to work together in building a better, more harmonious Malaysia.

“So, let’s take this as a point for us to build a harmonious Malaysia and a country where its citizens are united without the consideration of race and religion. So, I hope that our country will become harmonious and that harmony is maintained.”
