Many of you who are familiar with the local music scene would know who Darkkey is. But, for those who don’t, here’s a little taste of why he has been dubbed the ‘Indian Emperor of Samba Rock’.

And considering his contributions and ‘legend’ status in the industry, you would think that he’s at least be given a Datukship title, right?

Darkkey recently took to his official Facebook page to share the aftermath of him receiving a ‘Dato’ title to his name. But, many have since speculated on the legitimacy of the award.

He wrote, “It is a great honour for me to receive this. I would like to thank all of you who believe in me and joined me in this unforgettable journey. Dato Darkkey Nagaraja. Love you all, my dear Samba Rock fans”.

In the posting, he posed in what looked like the sash worn by Selangor award recipients, in a space that seem like a cheap imitation of the royal throne room.

And many agreed to this

Netizens believe that Darkkey could either be faking the entire situation or he was simply scammed into thinking he was receiving the ‘Dato’ title.

Despite the obvious inconsistencies with the authentic Datukship ceremony, countless people have also congratulated him over the ‘achievement’.

Though, this is ridiculously saddening as he truly deserves the real deal.

We genuinely hope that this leads the authorities to realise that Darkkey contributions to the local music industry and Malaysian culture, and finally give him the Datukship title he deserves!

What do you think about this? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
