A foreign woman was found dead on her bed in a rented unit in Penang, with a stab wound to her neck.

The gruesome discovery was made yesterday morning (August 22) at around 11:30 am, when the homeowner’s father visited the unit to inspect it.

He noticed bloodstains on the floor outside the bedroom and, after struggling to open the bedroom door, found the woman’s body on the bed. He immediately alerted the police.

The deceased was a 30-year-old Burmese national. The unit had been rented to a foreign couple and a single man.

However, the latter individual was nowhere to be found following the incident.

Police also discovered multiple slash wounds on the woman’s body. According to residents in the Desa Damai area, the deceased was frequently seen with the missing man, although they were unsure of the nature of their relationship.

A fruit vendor, shocked by the incident, said the woman had visited her stall around 8 am on the day of the murder. PDRM officers also found bloodstains in a trash can on the ground floor, which they believe belonged to the victim, according to Sin Chew.
