LRT will soon implement a Women’s Coach, very similar to KTMB and MRT’s Women’s Coach, as a shelter for the ladies during their travels.

In a Facebook post by RapidKL, the organisation announced the implementation of the Women’s Coach for the LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling line, effective 31 December 2024. RapidKL also reminded all commuters to abide by all rules.

RapidKL did not disclose if the LRT Kelana Jaya line will follow suit.

KTMB first introduced its Women’s Coach in April 2010, with the pink logo outside the coach, which signifies many women’s favorite colour.

“Sure, but ladies should pay more”

Social media users, however, had a lot to say about the implementation of the Women’s Coach on LRT. Some urged the ladies to fill up the Women’s Coach, while others pointed out that women should pay extra for the “luxury”.

One user said, “RapidKL, please educate the women to fill the Women’s Coach first before using other coaches. This will allow the men to board the train during rush hour.”

“Some foreigners may not comprehend it. The auxiliary police should remind them.”

Another said, “Do you have a designated coach for men?”

“This is a discrimination. All female passengers should pay extra for Women’s Coach. They would utilise it if they had to pay more. Or better yet, make a gold class like those in Dubai.”

Another user hinted at the possibility of women becoming more self-centred after the Women’s Coach is implemented.

“Some of them put their begs on the seat in the regular coach. When we tell them about it, they don’t like it.”

The rule is self-explanatory. The Women’s Coach is meant for the ladies. What do you think of RapidKL’s initiative?
