An employee at a KK Mart store in Perak recently found himself under fire after CCTV footage showing him abusing a dog went viral on social media.

The footage shows the man splashing hot water onto the dog that was resting outside the store.

The employee “equipped” himself with the hot water from the dispenser in the store before splashing the liquid at the dog resulting in it to run away. The circulating video did not sit well with Malaysian social media users, who called for strict action to be taken against him.

Terminated with immediate effect

In an official statement last night (March 8), KK Mart revealed that strict action has been taken against the said employee following an internal investigation at the outlet and the HQ in KL.

The incident took place at its outlet in Jalan Besar Menglembu, Perak.

“The said employee had been summoned again to the HQ and following investigations, we have terminated his contract with immediate effect.”

As for the dog, KK Mart said they have also contacted the animal care centre and they are ready to bear the treatment cost for the dog’s injuries.

“We are committed to maintain the responsibilities and ethical business practices and will continue to uphold the trust of our customers and to the entire community at large,” KK Mart said in its statement.

We hope this shall serve as a reminder to those who think they can get away with animal abuse.
