We spend a great deal of our time in school and our teachers are sometimes the persons that we turn to in case of anything.

This teacher in Kota Kinabalu took matters into her own hands after seeing her students go hungry because they didn’t have enough money to eat.

According to The Star, the school counsellor, Maisarah Hannan for St Cecilia’s Convent Secondary School in Sandakan, uses her own money to buy kuih every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday to give to students who have nothing to eat at school.

She said she came up with the idea last year when she saw some students, especially those who were from squatter areas, not having anything to eat.

Seeing her initiative a few times, her friends started donating to her little project. Back then, she could only afford to buy around 20 sets of kuih, but now, she can buy around 50 meal packets with the help of her friends and colleagues.

She said that the satisfaction on their happy faces is the reward for her generosity.

It was also reported that the project will continue as the school has given its support.

This is not the first time that Cikgu Maisarah has helped out her students. On 18th July, she shared a post about buying new shoes for a student who was wearing ripped shoes.

Shes’s such a considerate teacher and one who will be a good role model for her students. Terima kasih, cikgu!
