This educator is very kind and brave!

An educator went a mile further to show solidarity with her cancer-stricken student by going fully bald, wrote The Star. 39-year-old Dr Bamini KPD Balakrishnan decided to forgo her hair in a show of empathy for her student Richelle Hii Hua Yin, who was diagnosed with stage three bone cancer in February 2019.

FYI, Dr Bamini is a senior lecturer who teaches at the UMS (University Malaysia Sabah) Business, Economics and Accountancy Faculty.

The educator agreed that there were other ways to support her 20-year-old student, but Dr Bamini chose to shave her head because she wanted to support her student who lost her hair due to cancer treatment.

Dr Bamini was quoted as saying,

“I want her to know that we’re all here for her and she is not alone in this difficult moment. There’s no intention to seek popularity. I just want to give her support and courage to keep being positive.”

On the other hand, the kind lecturer said that Richelle, who is from Beluran, was an intelligent and active student. The young Sabahan is an excellent student as she obtained a CGPA (cumulative grade point average) of 3.6 in the first semester itself.

Besides that, she is also an active member of the Police Undergraduate Voluntary Corp. Following that, Dr Bamini finally said,

“I’m asking all my friends and also the public to pray for her smooth recovery.”
