You have to start early if you want to educate your children about what happens behind the scenes of earning money – the inevitable hardships, the efforts, the backup plan if things don’t work well, and the list goes on.
A Malaysian mother in Sungai Long, Kajang recently came up with a bright idea to teach her kids about the value of money, and she did so by helping them set up a stall where the kids sell a cup of Milo for RM2.
They’re getting involved in the business (literally) at a young age, and they started by interesting the people, who were mostly hikers and residents with a cup of Milo to quench their thirst.
The mother shared a few pictures of the experience via the Chinese social media platform Xiao Hong Shu, and she revealed that her contribution was not only physical but also financial as she prepared some capital money for the kids to start up their Milo business.
“They’re starting to learn about earning for a living and the value of money at a young age,” she said in her post.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the mother, Stella revealed that the whole business plan was not her idea but it was the children themselves who pitched the “business plan” to her.
“We attended a charity sale recently, and they came up with the bright idea because they learnt that they can earn some money by selling things.”
The children are like an A-team as everyone is committed to giving their best, and Stella’s son handles the “marketing” part by directly advertising the drink through cardboard.
Stella also told WORLD OF BUZZ that despite being involved in business for the 1st time, it quickly attracted other like-minded peers as some of her friend’s children tagged along in the business by selling sandwiches and cupcakes. While the kids did not prepare much for their business, Stella said that the experience was to highlight the joy of doing transactions.
“The kids have also expressed interest in continuing the business sometime this week,” Stella added.
For their efforts alone, it’s definitely an A+ and the kids are going places! To those staying in Kajang, have you bumped into their stall recently? We wish them nothing but the best in their future endeavors.
