The manager of the KFC outlet located right outside Sunway Pyramid mall has become an online sensation due to his actions.

Gary Chong was on his way home late one night after a gruelling 15-hour production shoot, when he decided to stop by the outlet for a quick meal.

“My stomach began to grumble and like every other Malaysian, I thought to myself, why not grab a quick bite to eat? Exhausted, physically and mentally, I swung around the corner and as I parked my car, I realised that I did not have any cash on me.”

Due to the fact that it was passed 12:30am, most ATMs were out-of-service.

Realising he could pay with his credit card, he ordered his meal and pulled out his card when the meal was presented to him. Much to his misfortune, the credit card system was also offline, leaving him unable to pay for his food.

Disappointed and starving, there was no other options for him to make the payment so he gave up, thanked the service staff and began to walk away.

“Encik!”, someone had called out to him.

Gary was shocked to see the manager rushing over to him, offering to pay for the food out of his own pocket. Gary turned him down but he insisted, adding, “Rezeki jangan tolak bang.” (Sustenance should not be rejected, brother.)

Gary finally accepted his generous offer and ate his meal while reflecting on the manager’s kind actions, commending KFC on their choices in terms of hiring. Gary’s Facebook post regarding the incident has since garnered over 225 shares while netizens were quick to praise the manager.

He has since been identified as Nazrin Ramli. It is still unclear if KFC has reached out to Nazrin for his exemplary behaviour. However, this post definitely warmed all our hearts!

“That manager’s RM15-ish investment from his pocket has secured a now loyal and devout KFC customer. Not just for myself, but like I told my wife when I went home… Our future kids and generations ahead of us will treat KFC as our go to fast food joint.”

Here’s to following Nazrin’s lead when it comes to helping others.
