Kelantan & T’ganu Show Appreciation to Selangor Govt For Sending RM1 MILLION in Flood Aid
It appears that the floods are back and and threatening a repeat of last year’s tragedy. In the past few days, there have been plenty of reports that parts of Kelantan and Terengganu were flooded due to heavy and continuous rain.
In a statement by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, he revealed that the state government has contributed RM500,000 to each of Kelantan and Terengganu governments to assist flood victims in the 2 states.
He also added that the state government through the Rapid Action Squads (PANTAS) and Selangor Volunteers (SERVE), was ready to provide post-flood humanitarian aid.
According to the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), 25,353 people in Kelantan and 37,021 in Terengganu had been affected by the floods as of 8am yesterday (December 20).
Meanwhile, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has thanked the Selangor state government for their contributions.
In a Facebook post, he wrote, “Thank you Selangor State Government for your concern and donation of RM500,000 to help flood victims in Terengganu”.
“The Selangor State Government has also offered services in the form of humanitarian aid through the PANTAS Squad and SERVE Selangor in the aftermath of the flood.”
“Many thanks to the Government agencies, NGOs and volunteers including JPKK and the villagers who were involved in the mission of rescuing and evacuating flood victims,” he added.
The Kelantan state government has also shown their appreciation for Selangor’s goodwill.
In a statement, Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said the donation would be used to help those in the state who were affected by the disaster.
“On behalf of the state government, l would like to express my appreciation for the Selangor government’s donation.”
“The donation, as well as the Rapid Action Squads (PANTAS) and Selangor Volunteers (SERVE), are very meaningful for the flood victims,” he added.
He further said, “Hopefully, the contributions of various parties will benefit the flood victims especially in the post-flood recovery.”
