In the latest update from the Malaysian federal government, it has been reported by Free Malaysia Today and Malaysian Insight that a decision has been made to mobilise the army in order to help further enforce the current Movement Control Order that was set in place on 18th March 2020.
“We’re confident that with help from the army the MCO will be implemented better. And we hope the people will continue to comply with the government’s instructions,” said Defense Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The mobilisation of the Malaysian army will take place this Sunday (22nd March 2020). This comes after many Malaysians were still seen flouting orders to stay home and avoid mass gatherings, despite strict rules specifying that they remain indoors unless absolutely necessary.
As this is a developing story, further updates will be made as soon as they are available to press.
