Just yesterday (2nd July), 13 more ministers and 23 deputy ministers were sworn in before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and they have not wasted any time getting straight to work!

The same can certainly be said for the youngest minister in the cabinet, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman. The new Youth and Sports Minister began his first official day of work along with deputy minister Steven Sim Chee Keong and chief secretary Nik Abdul Kadir today (3rd July), according to Harian Metro.

Speaking to the ministry’s employees, he said,

“The title YB (Yang Berhormat) makes me feel old. Just call me Bro Saddiq instead.”

“We need to instill a physically active lifestyle not just for those below 21 years, but for all Malaysians, especially for those working in the Ministry of Youth and Sports.”

“Back when we used to study, we were all fit and active in sports, but after entering the working world, many of us have become inactive and unfit. We need to get back into this active lifestyle and incorporate it into our daily lives.”

He was quoted by Malaysiakini as saying,

“Every morning, we will go jogging together around Putrajaya. If not, we can go after work, around 5.30pm. We want to instill in all Malaysians the spirit of sportsmanship.”

Well, we’re sure that our new Youth and Sports Minister will do a great job during his term! Good luck, Bro Saddiq! 😉
