JPJ Personnel Are Going Undercover As Passengers On Express Buses This Festive Period
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has revealed that its personnel will be disguising themselves as passengers to ensure express bus drivers adhere to traffic regulations. JPJ senior director of enforcement, Datuk Lokman Jamaan asserted that the department’s personnel will be stationed randomly in an express bus during this festive Aidilfitri period.
As reported by national news agency Bernama, the JPJ personnel will be in plain clothes and will issue summons to the bus drivers should they commit any offence. Lokman said,
“If the drivers commit any offence, our officers will issue them the summons on the spot upon reaching the destination,”
The JPJ senior director of enforcement said the above while talking to reporters during an operation at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) yesterday. During the operation, JPJ inspected more than 217 buses at TBS and other bus terminals nationwide and slammed the brakes on 11 buses which were not roadworthy.
