Best remembered for his viral antics which have led to a string of controversies, public figure Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos has once again returned into the public’s consciousnesses in his latest appearance at Sungai Buloh. Occurring earlier yesterday (14th August 2020), the notorious businessman continues to spur discussions among Malaysians with his antics.

Seemingly questioning the Shah Alam City Council’s decision to raid and confiscate the sewing machines that allegedly belong to local business owners after photos from the operation were shared across local social media, Datuk Seri Jamal appeared before a crowd in Sungai Buloh, armed with a sewing machine of his own to address this matter.

“I want to let the Menteri Besar of Selangor know that he should consider organising courses for MBSA officers to teach them what a gambling den looks like,” he said.

Datuk Seri Jamal, who is also the head of UMNO’s Sungai Besar division, then goes on to question why premises that have nothing to do with gambling were falling victim to raids. He explained that he had brought a sewing machine out in order to show MBSA officers what they look like, so they could differentiate them from gambling machines.

“Gambling dens have been around for a while, and we have brought this up to them previously. Yet, they decided to raid seamstresses instead.” he adds.

He goes on to comment upon the fact that many of the business owners who have been affected by the raids have already suffered substantial losses during the MCO period and did not have a chance to recoup their earnings before losing their businesses entirely as a result of the recent crackdown.

The MBSA operation occurred on 12th August 2020 around Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh, where enforcement officers were seen shutting down business premises that were not operating within the scope of the law. As many as 230 MBSA enforcement officers, members of police, the Malaysian Immigration Department, the Malaysian Royal Customs, and even employees from TNB and Air Selangor were involved.

However, the photos of sewing machines being confiscated is likely referring to a separate operation that occurred on 21st July 2020.
