As we’re all often busy with our everyday lives, convenience and simplicity is now the priority. Businesses are now selling services and products via vending machines which are becoming much more innovative.

Recently, a TikTok video of a vending machine in Malaysia went viral as it showcased how you can fill up your plastic bottles with your everyday cleaning liquids!

The video shows a person bringing an empty bottle of dishwashing liquid to a vending machine at Wangsa Walk Mall in KL.

It then shows how you can help reduce plastic use by bringing your own plastic bottles and filling them up with your  cleaning liquid of choice through the vending machine.

Malaysians were intrigued by the vending machine

The video went viral and currently sits on over 584,200 views and 55,500 likes on the app. In the comments section, plenty of users were intrigued by the vending machine.

The man behind the brand

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Don Low who is the founder of EcoVend, a zero-waste solution company based in KL, said that the idea came about after he realised how much plastic waste he had.

“The idea of Bubbles came about 4 years ago when I realised that there are no refill packs for shampoo when there are refill packs for body and household cleaning products. Then, I thought, isn’t having a refill pack considered as plastic waste too,” he said.

He then came up with the idea of a vending machine where people can reuse their bottles directly from the machine.

He explained that he has been using the same shampoo bottle since 2015 meaning that he has saved around 80 plastic bottles. However, he ends up still throwing 80 packs of plastic in the form of refill packs.

The Bubbles Machine

According to Low, the Bubbles Machine has 8 product outputs, and each output can hold 45ltr in total.

“It’s straightforward to use the machine, users need to bring their bottles, select the product, size, and make payment through cashless modes such as credit/debit cards or E-wallet (TnG, Grab & Boost).”

  • Wangsa Walk Mall,
  • Lotus’s Cheras,
  • Lotus’s Mutiara Damansara,
  • Desa Green Serviced Apartments,
  • Menara Simfoni.

After the video went viral, tons of people requested to rent/buy and so many people said that the machines should be everywhere in Malaysia.
