Malaysians living in residential areas such as flats, apartment buildings or even any highrises for that matter often come face to face with parking problems.

While it is not uncommon for people to double park or park their cars where they are not supposed to, the problem becomes worse comes when the vehicles halt traffic, or worst of all, stall an emergency vehicle from reaching its destination.

Taking to Twitter @999Malaysia shared a story of how a fire engine’s journey to an emergency was stopped by vehicles that were parked haphazardly at the Nuri Court Apartment in Pandan Indah, Kuala Lumpur.

The tweet writes, “The incident took place at Nuri Court Apartment. Members of the fire engine had trouble getting down the street due to a car which was double-parked in the area.”

“Thankfully, residents in the area lent a helping hand to the fire engine.”

It is about time that Malaysians stop thinking about just themselves. You might have saved a bit of time double parking, but you might have just cost a life due to your selfishness.

We hope that the fire engine reached its destination in time, and we hope that this will be a lesson for others to be more considerate of their actions.
