There had always been some bad blood between Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football club owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
Following the recent back and forth between the 2 after TMJ had posted an Instagram story of a satirical poster of Sanusi as the McDonald’s clown, political activist Fahmi Reza has stepped into the fray to question why TMJ doesn’t get reprimanded for posting satire.
In a post on Twitter, Fahmi wrote, “Today, a prince shared a satirical artwork which clowned an MB. If I were to share a satirical artwork that clowned a prince, you guys would know what happens next… guaranteed to land in lockup“.
“When they do it, it’s not disrespectful. But when we do it, it’s disrespectful.”
He also asked why a prince is allowed to poke fun at someone via a satirical piece but the rakyat is unable to do the same towards the prince and the royalty.
Fahmi then added that those who think that he isn’t brave enough to poke fun at a prince should just go see the satirical graphics he previously produced about TMJ which led to him being blocked.
“If I can even make satire of the queen and kings, what more of princes.”
How the whole issue started
The back and forth between TMJ and Sanusi was initiated after Sanusi had made some indirect comments about the JDT owner.
In response, TMJ posted a satirical poster of Sanusi as the McDonald’s clown on his Instagram story where he told Sanusi to keep quiet and that the more he speaks, the dumber he sounded.
“Everything you control ends up becoming a failure. Your state failed, economy failed, sports failed, everything failed. This is what we call an expert in failure.”
Following the post by TMJ, Sanusi took to his Facebook essentially telling TMJ to chill out and to not be too offended.
What do you think of the whole back and forth?
