A Malaysian man lost his job during the Movement Control Order (MCO) implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, and since then, his wife has been helping him more than he ever wanted.

For the past five years, his wife has been the main provider at home to sustain the family, and the man can’t help but feel useless.

To clarify, the man had tried his best to find new jobs since the MCO. Despite landing a few different positions, none of them lasted. Throughout this period, seeing his peers and relatives achieve success and live better lives than him has only poured salt on his wounds.

“As I entered 2026 and saw the achievements of my friends and relatives, I really felt worthless. I lost my job in 2020, and since then I have done many different jobs, but none of them have gone smoothly.”

Back at home, more situations have caused him to feel unworthy

What pained him even more was the feeling that he had become a burden on his family. His wife has been shouldering the family’s financial responsibilities, while he not only failed to contribute financially but also constantly worried about being a burden on his children and parents.

“I really feel sorry for her and the children. I also feel very sorry for my parents for having a child like me who has no savings and no skills,” he expressed via a viral post on Threads.

Despite feeling he hasn’t been a good pillar of the family, he still tried his best to manage the children and daily household affairs.

What do you think the man can do to improve his life and get back on track again?
