Syed Saddiq will be leaving to Singapore for a month to finish his studies at NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy on a full scholarship.

During the one month he is away, the Muar MP said he will be giving his March 2021 salary up to be used by the Muar parliament.

“I don’t deserve to keep my salary while I further my studies,” he said in a Facebook post.

He added that while he is in Singapore, his efforts in Malaysia will be continued by his team in Muar.

In his post, he shared that he began his Executive course in Public Police in NUS in September 2020.

“Previously classes were all made online; but this time I need to physically be in class in Singapore,” he said.

“I’ll be in Singapore for a month. I don’t go on vacation but to study.”

“I hope my studies in this “Public Policy” field will make me a better member of Parliament and policymaker for Muar and Malaysia.”

Syed Saddiq added that since the declaration of emergency in Malaysia, he and his team in Muar have successfully helped over 765 families receive laptops and tablets while 5,550 families had received “food bank assistance”.

Additionally, 150 students have received the help of Dermasiswa Harapan Muar.

“Thank you Malaysians. Thank you, Muar. Pray for my safe journey home.”
