A man from Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh, India, allegedly chopped off his 17-year-old daughter’s head after he was angered that she was in a relationship with a youth he did not like.

According to Times Now News, the man was seen walking calmly walking down the road while holding his daughter’s severed head. He walked for around 2km to reach the police station to turn himself in to the cops, sparking panic in the area. He was then arrested.

The man identified as Sarvesh Kumar allegedly used an axe to commit the deed. He admitted without hesitation that he found his daughter alone at home, locked her in a room and beheaded her with a sharp object.

“I did it. There was no one else. I closed the latch and did it. The body is in the room,” he said.

The man told the police that he had left the body and the murder weapon “in the room” and was on his way to the police station, reported BBC.

The police ask him to put the head down and sit by the road and he obliged without protest.

Meanwhile, one of the cops involved was suspended after he held the severed head inappropriately.

“A person named Sarvesh killed his teenaged daughter and was spotted carrying her severed head on the road. We intercepted him as soon as we received information about it and have taken him into custody,” Kapil Deo Singh, a police official posted in Hardoi said.

“We have also taken serious note of a photo which shows a police official carrying her head inappropriately. The cop has been suspended,” he said, reported NDTV.
