As long as you’re comfortable and as long as the occasion calls for it, you’re allowed to wear anything casual that makes you feel at ease, regardless of men and women.
A Malaysian man recently expressed his disgust at seeing men who enjoy wearing shorts in public. He recently travelled to the city center from Bangi and what he saw baffled him – the amount of men wearing shorts in public, such as malls.
“Men! Why must you reveal your thighs? Don’t you know how awkward it is?”
He then said that things were much different 30 years back when every man wore long pants or at least something that covered their knees.
“But it’s different today. Some are wearing tight shorts and I can see the shape of their butts!”
That’s not all. The man clearly saw a lot of things he didn’t like when he was in KL. He also took the opportunity to comment on the fashion sense of those who paired shorts with socks, and claimed that many parents are worried that it might influence their kids in a bad way.
“What kind of fashion design is this? Can you men please dress appropriately and if you really wanna show off your thighs, don’t do it in public!”
The original post has since been removed but it has since been recirculated by the Facebook page 大马资讯网.
At the end of his post, the man reminded others to respect the people around them because we’re living in a multicultural country.
“What are you going to do about it?”
Many Malaysians have since responded to the recirculated post and told the man that everyone is free to wear what they see fit.
“We’re free to wear what we want.”
“I like to reveal my thighs. What are you going to do about it?”
“I like to wear shorts and I’m free to wear what I want because I have the guts.”
“Since we’re living in a multicultural surrounding, are there any fixed attires that should & shouldn’t be respected? The fact that it’s multicultural should be the reason itself for us to respect each other, and no need to project your opinion onto others.”
Gentlemen, do you often wear shorts outdoors or when you’re at the mall? Ladies, what do you think about men wearing shorts almost all day, err day?
