Does it matter where you stay? Do you care where your shelter stands and where you live? Well, if you prefer style over survival, the location matters, especially when you want others to know where you call home.
In a recent interview with a local radio station shared on its TikTok page @era.je, the DJ spoke to a Malaysian woman who identified herself as Sarah. The woman admitted that she prioritizes her lifestyle, which explains her decision to stay in Hartamas. To those who are unaware, Hartamas, which neighbors the Mont Kiara area with malls like Publika, 163 Retail Park is filled with expats, and those who belong to the high-income group.
Sarah said that even if it means using up her salary, she’s going to maintain the lifestyle that imitates the rich.
“The money you spend, you can earn them back. I want to maintain this rich lifestyle.”
When asked how could she afford to live in Hartamas, Sarah told others,
“I took as many jobs as I can, even it it means overworking myself.”
“Kayu Ara? Kampung Melayu? No, thanks!”
One of the DJs also asked Sarah if it’s really important for others to know that “Hartamas” is her address, and Sarah was quick to answer,
“Definitely!”
Another DJ asked if Sarah was to move to Kayu Ara in Damansara, and Sarah was honest about what she thought – It’s a NO.
“I have a friend who stays in Kampung Melayu in Subang. I was like eww but when I visited her house, I was like wow!” Sarah expressed.
Sarah continued to spill some tea about her friends who prefer buying houses in the Kampung (rural) areas but shockingly, their properties are always huge. The DJs and Sarah then discussed a little about places with common names but unbeknownst to others, the places are “filled” with huge houses.
