Honesty is always precious but sadly, it’s rare nowadays especially when it comes to money. People also say money is the root of all evil but in this case, it might just restore your faith in humanity.

An employee of a mini market in Bandar Puteri, Klang recently went viral for her honesty. In a TikTok clip shared by Setia Mart Bandar Puteri, a female employee, who was alone at the premise wanted to get herself a snack from the mini-mart itself. Being an employee of a place does not mean you’re entitled to free food all the time. The staff was well aware of it and she not only paid for the snacks but she also made sure her employees were well aware of it.

The clip shows CCTV footage at the counter where the staff made her every move visible and clear just to prove a point – she’s also a paying customer.

She started by taking the snack at the counter and pointing it at the CCTV before scanning the product. Next, she took out her wallet and pointed a banknote at the CCTV, indicating that yes, she was going to pay for her snack.

She then took her balance from the cash register and again, she showed the exact amount of her change to the CCTV. She didn’t need to do that, but out of honesty and to avoid possible issues in the future, she chose to go a bit of the extra mile to show her honesty.

“So cute & disciplined”

And we’re not the only ones amused. The clip went viral and many Malaysians are in awe of her honesty, as well as praising her for being responsible.

“This is a good staff.”

“I did this when I was a cashier back then, and this is what I feared the most. The boss might’ve thought of something else if I change the money in the cash register with my own.”

“It looks funny but the truth is, we have to be responsible.”

“Despite her effort and honestly, a shortage of money is still possible. My nightmare as a part-time cashier.”

To those who have worked as a cashier in the past, and if you’re still handling the cash register, can you relate to the employee’s honesty? Will you put in a little extra effort just to prove your honesty?
