While many leaders mourn the passing of Bung Moktar, who breathed his last yesterday (5 December) after being reported in critical condition, his family members shared insights into his personality that the world may not have known.

Malaysian actor Shaheizy Sam revealed that the Bung Moktar Malaysians saw in Parliament was very different from the one his family knew at home.

β€œBung Moktar was a perfect brother-in-law.”

Speaking to the media, Shaheizy, who was also Bung’s brother-in-law, explained that Bung was a completely different person at home, especially with his family, as he was soft-spoken and rarely raised his voice.

β€œI think for the past 10 years, I rarely saw him raise his voice at home. He was a perfect brother-in-law; he was gentle at home.”

While reminiscing about Bung, Sam mentioned that his late brother-in-law had once given him advice he will cherish and remember forever.

β€œHe reminded me to always prioritise my mother in any circumstance. He always told me that if I wanted to be successful, I had to take good care of my mother. That is a piece of advice I remember to this day,” reported BERNAMA.

β€œHe had been sick since the Sabah state election season.”

Sam added that he last saw Bung on 28 November, just one day before the state election (PRN) in Sabah. He said he usually met Bung every year during the state election season, but this year was different.

Bung was not feeling well during the campaign period, which Sam witnessed firsthand.

Sam, who is well-known for his roles in the Polis Evo movie series, also expressed shock upon learning of Bung’s death and took the first flight to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, to attend the funeral and pay his last respects.

Bung Moktar Radin, 66, passed away after succumbing to his illness on Friday, less than a week after his reelection as Lamag assemblyman (ADUN).

Following his passing, the future of his long-held Kinabatangan parliamentary seat is now uncertain.
