The daughter of Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Zahid Hamidi, Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid, reflected upon the death of Kinabatangan Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Seri Bung Moktar, who breathed his last this morning (5 December).

Bung’s passing was mourned by Malaysian leaders from both sides of the aisle, and Nurulhidayah penned a reflective post about life in general.

“While many people insulted him, Allah ended his life’s journey with honour

Nurulhidayah said that Bung’s death opened the door for everyone to reflect, especially when his passing took place less than a week after his reelection as the Lamag assemblyperson (ADUN).

She added that while many Malaysians continue to criticise Bung, the Almighty closed his life’s journey with honour, which she dubbed, “a gift that cannot be arranged and created.”

“We never know someone’s hidden good deeds. We don’t know whose prayers God will answer. But we know for sure that God will honour those he wants at the right time. Bung’s death sends a message that life is temporary.”

While reflecting on the brevity of life, Nurulhidayah added that anyone, regardless of status, will be “summoned” back to the Creator at any time, and when that happens, there will be no turning back.

“By then, your good deeds, your contributions, and the prayers of others for you will be the things that matter.”

“May Allah forgive his sins, and I hope Sabahans will continue to remember a warrior who left with honour,” Nurulhidayah said in her Facebook post this morning.

Nurulhidayah’s father, Zahid Hamidi, also reflected on Bung’s passing, saying that he had lost a good friend who was close to his heart, and a comrade who stood by him.

In his Facebook post, Zahid also described Bung as a person who remained loyal through every moment of ease and hardship.

“My heart breaks when I receive the news about the death of my friend this morning.”
