A birthday party turned sour when the police caught 17 individuals gathering in violation of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

According to Harian Metro, the birthday party took place on 7 February at a house in Makam Mahsuri, Langkawi.

A police team assigned to monitor adherence to the standard operating procedures (SOP) during the MCO raided the house at 1am after noticing many vehicles parked in the area.

Langkawi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shariman Ashari said the police found 13 adult men and four women gathered in the house while holding a birthday celebration.

“A total of 17 adults aged between 18 and 32 are locals who live around Langkawi,” he said.

“All of them were compounded RM1,000 each.”

Even if you are living within a 10km radius from your friend’s house, gathering in each other’s houses goes against the MCO. Stay at home and stay safe.
