“Got freebies ah?” 7 Sneaky Things M’sians Do To Collect FREE Stuff That We’re ALL Familiar With

“If I buy this, got freebies or not?” …is something that most of us Malaysians have grown accustomed to asking when we’re out shopping. We can’t help it, we just like to get the most value out of our money! In fact, some of us are even willing to go the extra length just to sneakily earn some freebies. Sounds familiar? Read on to find out if you’ve done some of these things too!

1. Using your expired student card to enjoy extra perks

One of the perks that come with being a university student is that you get to flash your student card and enjoy extra perks such as additional discounts or even freebies. Some of us still try to take advantage of this perk even after we’ve graduated!

2. Creating multiple social media accounts just to increase your chances of winning giveaways

We all have that one friend who is obsessed with entering online giveaways on social media (or you are that friend!). And in order to increase their chances of winning, they’d sometimes create multiple social media accounts just so they can spam these contests!

We can’t tell if this is genius or not… ?

3. Having 10 different email accounts to get free subscriptions

If you’re a university student, konfem you’ve done this before! This usually happens with streaming websites or online software that would offer free trials for a few months upon signing up.

Since we can’t afford to pay the full price, we’d create 10 different emails just to keep signing up for the same free trial so we can enjoy it for a longer period. Don’t judge us for being broke, please! ?

4. Hanging out for hours at cafes just for the free WiFi

If you’re planning to stay for hours just to use the WiFi, we hope you’ll order a few things from the menu (and not just sip from the same cup of latte for four hours ?). Plus, it won’t hurt to help out these kind businesses for offering free WiFi, right? Let’s sapot lokal, guys!

5. Intentionally passing by a samples booth to take multiples

Raise your hand if you’re guilty of passing by the same ‘free samples’ booth multiple times just so you can take multiple samples… ?‍♀️?‍♂️

It’s not that we’re stingy or can’t afford to buy the product. We just want to make sure we get a really, really good taste of it before we make our purchase. It’s called being a smart shopper, okay! ?

6. Singing up for a new credit card at those mall booths just to get the free air fryer/tablet/etc.

Those pop-up booths for credit cards at malls would usually have some amazing gifts like an air fryer or a tablet! In reality, even though we know we don’t really have any good use for the credit card afterwards, we’ll still sign up for it because the Asian DNA in us just can’t say no to such a good freebie!

7. Subscribing to a mobile plan just to get a free smartphone

Ever heard of a freebie that sounded THIS good? Well, we’re about to tell you all about it!

Malaysians can now get a new 4G phone at ZERO Ringgit just by subscribing to these postpaid mobile plans from U Mobile!
