A woman suffered a loss of approximately RM10,000 after her gold necklace was snatched by a man in a robbery incident at Taman Jaya on Friday (24 October).

Temerloh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron, said the incident occurred around 3:30 PM when the 50-year-old victim was sleeping with her child in the living room.

He said the victim was awakened when her necklace was forcefully yanked by the suspect.

“The suspect is believed to be a man dressed entirely in black. He snatched the victim’s gold necklace until it broke and then attempted to grab her gold bracelet but failed.”

“The victim sustained abrasions on her neck due to the incident, while the suspect fled on a scooter-type motorcycle with an unidentifiable registration number,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

He added that the estimated loss suffered by the victim was around RM10,000.

Further investigations are underway, and the case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for robbery causing injury.

“The police do not rule out the possibility that the suspect may be the same individual involved in several similar incidents in the area recently,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mohd Nasyim also advised the public to remain vigilant and ensure that doors and windows are locked even when inside the house.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to report it to the nearest police station,” he added.
