One of the members of GISBH, Mohamad Riza Makar, pleaded NOT guilty at the Magistrate’s Court today for threatening a woman, who is also a former member of the company.

Riza was charged with criminally intimidating a 25-year-old woman by uttering the words — “We’ll wait. We know where’s your house, husband, and family.” The threat was made after the woman refused to withdraw a police report she made against the company.

The words, which were intended to scare the woman, were said in the parking lot of an office complex in Precinct 4, here, at 10 PM on September 9, 2024.

The deputy prosecutor of the case offered Riza, the accused, bail of RM30,000. His defence lawyer, however, thought the amount was too high and unreasonable, especially when Riza has a lot on his plate, reported Utusan.

“He has 3 wives and 10 children to feed. He makes only RM4,000 a month through his own business,” defence lawyer Zulfikri Ulul Azmin told the court.

Zulfikri also asked the court to take into account that Riza has never attempted to escape during the investigation and said that the accused has no importance in the organisation.

“Riza has his own business which has is connected to GISBH, and he’s just dragged into the investigation.”

Before the court allowed the bail with a lower amount, Riza also told the court,

“I need to prepare money for all my 10 kids before school reopens again.”

The court has set the bail to RM10,000.

An additional condition is not to disturb, approach, or contact the complainant throughout the ongoing case and to report to the nearest police station in the 1st week.
