As high school or university students, stress is inevitable as assignments and exams pile up every week. Some are able to handle their stress by executing good time management, while some get overwhelmed and are unable to function under all the pressure.

There are a few ways to release stress for people who can’t handle it alone, like talking to someone, taking a short break, or doing something you love, but apparently stabbing someone was an option for this Malaysian student.

A Form Five student of a school in Sungai Manggis was overwhelmed by stress and allegedly stabbed his counselling teacher several times out of revenge, reported The Star.

It was on Monday (17th June) at 8.20pm in the assistant warden’s room when the 17-year-old entered the room and waited for his teacher, Muhammad Hasnan Salim. Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Azizan Tukiman said that the victim, who is in his 30s, came in and was taking off his shoes when the suspect stabbed him.

“The victim was stabbed a few times in the shoulder before the suspect ran away,” he said.

“A knife was embedded in the shoulder of the victim, who was then rushed to the Banting Hospital before he was brought to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR) in Klang for further treatment.”

The police were alerted to the situation and immediately rushed to the school to detain the boy.

Azizan Tukiman said that the boy attacked the teacher because he was suffering from stress due to all the tight rules imposed in the school and hostel set by the teacher.

“Because he wasn’t satisfied and because of the enormous amount of stress, the suspect had acted out of control,” he said.

Fortunately, the boy was found to not be involved in drugs.

Meanwhile, the victim had to undergo an operation but is reported to be in a stable condition, while the boy has been ordered to be remanded for five days until 21st June, and has since been referred to the Psychiatry unit of Banting Hospital.

“The case has been classified as solved and the investigations papers will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor soon for the next course of action,” he said.

Wow, the boy must’ve been SO stressed that he ended up stabbing his own teacher! 🙁 Don’t do this, kids! Instead, talk to your teacher if you’re feeling overwhelmed, maybe he or she will be willing to negotiate something for you.
