It was just a normal day for this Jerantut firefighter until he responded to a serious car crash. His heart wasn’t prepared for the blow fate would deal him.
Responding to a call in relation to a traffic collision taking place at Kilometre 14 Jalan Jerantut-Temerloh nearby Kampung Tebing Tinggi, Kholid Abu Kassim — along with seven firefighters — rushed to the incident not knowing of what lay in store for him.
During the clean-up process, 48-year-old Kholid discovered the identification card of his baby sister at the scene of the incident.
“When I confirmed it was actually my sister who died, it broke my heart and I was in shock.”
He found his 44-year-old sister’s body on the road and he was in tears. The impact of the accident catapulted her out of the Exora she was driving. It must have been a really difficult sight to see.
According to District Police Chief Superintendent Mazlan Hassan, The incident occurred when a Triton driven by Koo Khoon Liang, was attempting to overtake a vehicle before colliding head-on with the oncoming Exora and Axia.
Koo was also catapulted out of his vehicle and died on the scene. Meanwhile, three other passengers were badly injured and sustained numerous broken limbs.
It is always saddening to see news like this and should serve as a reminder for everyone to be extremely cautious on the road, especially with the encroaching festive season.
Our condolences go to those involved in the incident.
