A German tourist who was travelling solo in Thailand was recently found dead at a famous beach after being raped and killed. This incident happened at Koh Sichang beach on 7 April, according to Bangkok Post.

Police spokesperson Krissana Pattanacharoen confirmed the incident and said the 27-year-old woman was brutally beaten to death. Her body was then hidden under a pile of leaves and rocks by the suspect. Later that night at around 8pm, the 24-year-old suspect named Ronnakorn Romruen was nabbed by the cops at his home and his clothes were stained with blood.

“The suspect feared that she would notify the police so he used a rock to hit her on the temple and face. He confessed to all the charges and admitted he took drugs before committing the crime,” another police spokesperson said

Based on the victim’s confession, he first saw the tourist when she was riding a rented motorcycle on the island. He tried to start a conversation with her but was rejected, which prompted him to follow the victim to Phra Chulachomklao mountain where he raped her.

The body was spotted by another tourist who was scouring for a location to take pictures. Acting on the tip-off regarding a suspicious man, the authorities then swept through the island and caught the suspect.

At the time of writing, Ronnakorn was held at Koh Sichang police station and he will be charged with murder, rape, and concealment of a body. The name of the victim will only be disclosed after her family members have been notified.

Hopefully, the culprit gets the punishment fit for his crime. Stay safe guys, especially when you’re travelling alone.
