A group of women booking a private-hire vehicle through an e-hailing service was left stunned after the driver arrived wearing only his underwear.

One of the passengers, Sharon (pseudonym), recalled the incident on 28 January (Wednesday), when she, her mother, and her aunties booked a ride in Johor using an e-hailing app for the first time.

Sharon explained that when they booked the ride at 11:47 AM, she and her family immediately noticed that the male driver wasn’t fully dressed when he arrived.

“My mother, my aunties, and I booked a ride through an app I was using for the first time. When the car arrived, and we got in, we realised the driver was only wearing underwear,” she said.

She added that the situation left them feeling extremely uncomfortable and even scared.

“My mum had to ask the driver to put on his shirt”

Sharon also urged that this story serve as a reminder for all women to stay extra cautious when using ride-hailing services.

“As we were all women, we felt extremely uncomfortable and scared. My mother asked the driver to put on his shirt, which he did only halfway, and he still wasn’t wearing any pants,” she said.

“This incident made us feel really unsafe. We think it’s important to warn other women, especially those travelling alone or heading to Johor, to be extra careful when using ride-hailing services,” she added.

According to an Instagram page, Sharon shared photos of the man wearing a T-shirt, but still nothing on his lower half, confirming he was only partially dressed after being confronted.
