Earlier today (18th September), Malaysians were shocked after rumours of Attorney-General (AG) Tommy Thomas resigning started to circulate online after this information was allegedly revealed by a government source to a local news portal.
However, according to a tweet from The Malaysian Insight, those rumours are reportedly false as the AG denies the report, calling it “false and dishonest”.

The news portal has already taken down the false report and apologised to the AG, stating that the initial report was based on a government source, who has since retracted their confirmation.
AG Tommy Thomas was appointed three months ago in June, shortly after the 14th General Election. The prominent lawyer was appointed after Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad submitted his name to the Yang DiPertuan Agong and was approved.
Rumours of his resignation surfaced in light of the AG’s chambers being criticised for ordering corruption charges against Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng to be dropped earlier this month.
So, looks like Tommy Thomas will, in fact, be sticking around! What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments below!
