Romance is usually the main theme for most wedding shots for obvious reasons. Which is why most photo shoots are preferably done at picturesque locations such as a country garden.
However, these lovebirds, Danny Ong and Krystle Tee decided to do something extraordinary, because pre-wedding shoots in a garden is too mainstream!
Extraordinary pictures require an extraordinary photographer, which was why they went for this man, Keow Wee Loong, a Malaysian photographer best known for his mad photography skills and daredevil spirit.
“A couple asked me if I knew any mystical place to capture their wedding photo. I said, ‘say no more, challenge accepted’,” Keow wrote on his social media.
The location Keow selected for this couple is the Ijen volcano complex in Indonesia, famed for its stunning electric blue flame.
Obviously the spot isn’t accessible by car, so the couple and Keow had to hike for three hours to get to the place. Besides, they were also constantly on the lookout for rangers to avoid getting caught and having their plans foiled. Sounds adventurous!
Krystle’s dress was slightly damaged from the hill-climb, but luckily she has another one sitting at home, which will be used for her real wedding. Pheww…
Capturing the perfect shot under low-light conditions through the thick smoke was tricky, but not for Keow. He said they could clearly feel the heat from the flames of the volcano.
The only protection they used was a gas mask, as inhaling those volcanic gases is hazardous to the human body.
In the end, the photo shoot lasted for five hours, from 6pm to 11pm. They managed to achieve what they came here for, which was to make the wedding shots look like they were taken somewhere out of this planet.
Before this, Keow made waves on social media after he sneaked into a radioactive town in Fukushima and scaled the world’s highest bridge to propose to his Polish girlfriend.
If Keow is able to go to this extreme for the couple’s wedding shoot, you can bet his own wedding photos are gonna be even more lit! Check out his wedding shots in the story below!
