Almost a decade after its disappearance, the search for the missing MH370 flight continues. Just how long before the truth comes to light?
According to experts, it’s only a matter of days before the missing flight can (finally) be found. An aerospace expert Jean-Luc Marchand and pilot Patrick Blelly have called on the Australian Transport Safety Authority and the Malaysian government, as well as the exploration company Ocean Infinity to begin a new search.
“We have done our homework. We have a proposal. The area is small and considering new capabilities it will take 10 days,” the pair said during a recent lecture before the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAS).
According to the Australian news site, they also said the new search area was based on the belief the plane was purposefully hijacked and downed in the deep ocean.
“It was an atrocious one-way journey, which was possibly carried out by an experienced aeroplane pilot,” Merchand said.
They also claimed that the MH370’s cabin was depressurised and it was a soft control ditching to produce minimal debris. It was performed not to be trapped or found, especially by the military. According to them, the flight’s transponder was turned off and the U-turn it made to stray from the flight path was not done with Autopilot.
A bold claim
The motive is undeniably one of the lingering questions when it comes to a tragedy that involves many lives. While the motive of the hijackers is still unknown, the pair made a bold claim about the flight’s disappearance, which the u-turn was made between Thai, Indonesian, Indian, and Malay airspace that they dubbed “no man’s land.”
“What would have been the intention of the hijackers? This is a very sensitive area. You have Thai and South Indian radar coverage, but they don’t care.”
They added that the hijackers could do whatever they wanted because it happened on a radar where it was out of Kuala Lumpur’s visibility.
On that fateful night in 2014, MH370 took off with 239 passengers who then disappeared into thin air. Regardless of the experts’ claims, we hope that the truth will come to light one day.
