In the midst of a global crisis, the Covid-19 has made its way to The Employees Provident Fund’s (EPF) branch at Jalan Raja Laut on 27th February. This was officially confirmed by the EPF’s Headquarters, yesterday (10th March).
According to The Star, the branch will temporarily be closed to facilitate the disinfection process and will reopen on 16th March 2020.
The visitor who was tested positive for Covid-19 had entered the premises on 27th February from 2pm to 2.30pm. Even though the visitor’s stay was short, people around the area are still at high risk of being exposed to the virus.
In an official statement regarding this matter, the EPF Headquarters stated that the staff member who came into contact with the visitor had been sent for testing and the rest of the staffs are currently subjected to quarantine order.
The Jalan Raja Laut branch will also go through rigorous hygiene protocols to ensure its premises is safe for the public.
“All counters and other surfaces are continually cleaned throughout the day. In addition, all counter staff are required to wash their hands every 30 minutes,” they said in a public statement.
“As a further precautionary measure, members must undergo mandatory temperature checks prior to entering any EPF premises.”
EPF further advised members to apply via i-Akaun for transactions that do not require face-to-face contact with its staff.
