Recently, a social media post became viral across borders when the plight of a cancer-stricken 55-year-old Singaporean man living in Bangkok named Tan Hiok Soy was shared by his friend, William Khoo. In the post, William shared how his friend is in the final stage of his illness and hoped that the post could help reach out to Tan’s family members in Singapore and anywhere else in the world so that they can come to Bangkok and visit him while he is still alive.

Hopefully, Mr Tan will be reunited with his family soon and wins his battle against cancer!

The Facebook post, which has now garnered more than 1.6k shares and counting, has touched the heart of netizens from all over Thailand, Singapore and even in Malaysia as it is an unfortunate situation that shouldn’t be happening to anyone during their time of need. We all need the presence of loved ones when battling a serious illness.

In the comments section, one netizen asked William what the illness was in which he replied that his friend Tan has been suffering from cancer, although its type was undisclosed. Worse, William confirmed that the cancer is at a late stage and his dear friend is now bedridden and can’t consume food and drinks by himself anymore. 🙁

From the details in the posting as well as in William’s comment replies, it is assumed that Tan is too weak to reach out to his friends and families back home in Singapore hence why William decided to create the now-viral Facebook post.

William also shared a heartbreaking picture of his bedridden friend who looks almost unrecognisable to when he was still fit and healthy, showing the adverse effects of cancer on a human being.
