A driver who was caught committing an unspecified traffic violation by the local police pulled out a literal ‘trump card’ to avoid any legal action.

Get this, after getting pulled over, the road user presented the police officer with a Monopoly ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card.

A man who committed a traffic offence tried to get out of trouble by giving the police a Monopoly ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card

The incident took place in Fullerton, California, in the United States (US), and was shared by the Fullerton Police Department on its official Instagram page.

The post said,

“You never know what’s going to happen on a traffic stop. One of our officers recently pulled over a driver for a traffic violation.”

“In a last-ditch effort to get out of a citation, the driver handed over a Monopoly ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card.”

Get Out Of Jail

Attached to the post is the photo of the Monopoly card held by one of the police officers in their right hand. In the officer’s left hand, the offender’s driving license and a traffic citation can be seen.

He ultimately received a summons for the traffic offence

As you can probably guess, the driver’s cheeky attempt at escaping legal action was unsuccessful.

The Fullerton Police Department said that its officer had a good laugh at the attempt but reminded the driver that while creativity is appreciated, the ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card is not exactly a legal defence.

The driver was then jokingly told to save the card for a rainy day before he left with a smile and a real summons from the local police.

Well, to be fair, it’s a ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card, not a ‘Get Out of Summons Free’ card, so the card had no jurisdiction during the traffic stop! All jokes aside, what do you guys think of the incident? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
