Our Education Minister has always struck us as a chilled out type of guy, which is why we’re shocked when he decided to openly tembak former prime minister Najib Razak on Facebook earlier today (30 October).

According to Dr Maszlee’s FB post, he mentioned how the money embezzled by 1MDB could’ve been used to provide free education for all Malaysians from kindergarten level all the way to the bachelor’s degree level. Not only that, he said that the students could even get free lodging and free food for four years too!

Dr Maszlee went on saying,

“The RM2.6 billion can solve issues faced by the poorly-maintained schools in Sabah and Sarawak, and even solve the electricity-supply issue in rural areas.

“If we didn’t use the rakyat’s money to buy BIJAN, Hermes handbags and all the diamond rings for (our) wives and family, we could’ve achieved free education today.”

The post had received negative reactions from netizens with many asking the minister to check his facts before sharing it on the social media platform.

“The cops are still investigating the 1MDB issue and it’s unwise for you to accuse Najib of swindling the rakyat’s money to buy the bags. Let the court do its work,” a netizen said.

“Please focus on boosting our university ranking and upgrading the facilities instead of harping on this issue. You are our education minister, remember that,” another netizen commented.
