Sony Playstation needs no further introduction, having being the undisputed king of CD-based gaming consoles since its introduction in Japan during the mid-90s.

With the highly anticipated PS5 just around the corner, Malaysian Playstation aficionados have another reason to celebrate as Sony Playstation plans to open a Development Office here in 2020!

Surely a nod to Malaysia’s thriving games ecosystem, the opening of their new development office will be a definite boon to the local gaming industry.

The report, which was shared by playstationlifestyle.net wrote that the office will serve as a “Support studio, providing animation and art assets to other Sony-owned teams around the world.”

It also adds that the move is aimed at expanding the industry’s footprint to Southeast Asia.

Surely something to look forward to for Digital Creative Content creators in the country, because who would not want to work with the world’s most renowned gaming giant, right?

According to Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Darrel Leiking, the move for Sony Playstation to set up shop in Malaysia is partly due to our “thriving” Digital Creative Content industry, with Malaysians developing a total of 149 projects currently.
