While we may not realise this, a lot of us are really privileged to have a roof above our heads and to have an education. There are people out there who aren’t as privileged as us, but that doesn’t stop them from achieving what they want. That’s because at the end of the day, if you’re determined and work hard, you’ll definitely succeed.

In case you didn’t know, yesterday was the release of the PT3 results and undoubtedly many students were feeling the pressure. However, no one must’ve felt it like Syarifah Suffiah Syed Abu Bakar, 16, who not only had to take her PT3 results but also had to deal with her flooding house. Her father, Syed Abu Bakar Syed Daud, 60, accompanied her to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Lati, Pasir Mas. Admittedly, she told Harian Metro that she couldn’t even sleep properly the previous night as she was worried about the water level suddenly rising in her house at Kampung Cabang Tiga, Bagus, Rantau Panjang.

“Even though I was cold and wet, I was motivated to wear my school uniform so I can have the feel when I take my results.”

Despite all this, guess what her results were? Yes, she got 10 A’s! Undoubtedly, her parents were extremely proud of their daughter’s results and it was a pleasant surprise as well, as Syarifah only got 4A’s for her trials. They had to rush back home after the results session as they had to place their belongings on higher ground. As a finale, Syarifah simply said this isn’t the end and hopes that this serves as motivation for her SPM.

Her determination is inspiring indeed and serves as proof that with hard work, no flood, sun or any other obstacle can deter you from victory.
