Datuk Seri Arrested Among Those Involved in Death of Man Who Made Lewd Comments Against Woman

Recently, it was reported that a man had died in a fight at a restaurant in Jalan Kenanga, Melaka, after he had made an obscene comment against a woman.

Now, 9 people have been arrested, including a businessman with the title ‘Datuk Seri’ and the woman (who is his girlfriend), to help with investigations into the fight that led to the death.

According to a report by China Press, the Datuk Seri is allegedly a well-known foreign exchange dealer, who has branches in Melaka and Johor. He also apparently has a wide range of contacts and is involved a variety of charity work.

Despite the police remaining mum on the Datuk Seri’s identity, China Press managed to locate his Facebook account which has since disappeared.

 

Based on Berita Harian‘s report, a remand order of 7 days has been issued on the arrested suspects, aged 20 to 38-years-old, from yesterday until May 16 (Tuesday), under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to complete the investigation of the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

This is due to a fight that took place between 2am, where a 35-year-old man, who is believed to have been drunk, went to a stall to eat and drink with his friends. He had then allegedly said something indecent to his friend about the girlfriend of the Datuk Seri involved.

The bodyguard of the Datuk Seri heard the conversation the conversation and reprimanded the victim by saying that the woman was his ‘madam‘.

And argument ensued, which turned into a fight between the victim, the bodyguard and the Datuk Seri.

The victim was injured and fell unconscious. He was then taken to a hospital by his friends where he was confirmed dead.

Following that, the police arrested the group, including the Datuk Seri and his bodyguard, and seized weapons used in the fight, namely knives and iron rods.
