Some people really go through extra lengths just so they would not have to pay for food that they eat

In the past, we’ve heard of restaurants charging their customers extra but now we’re shocked by the extent some people go to, just to not pay for their food.

Recently, an incident happened at a hotpot restaurant in Leshan City, Sichuan Province, China, where a restaurant owner was shocked after receiving a complaint that one of his customers had found an unusual object in their hotpot.

On 18 December, a man known as Mr Hu had gone to the restaurant with his friend. As he was finishing up his meal, he apparently found a condom inside his hotpot.

After the discovery, he asked for compensation of at least 10,000 yuan (RM6546) and threatened the owner by claiming that he would post the pictures online.

After realising how badly the incident would affect the reputation of the restaurant, the owner denied the allegations and stated that they always monitor their cooks. The owner then decided to check the security footage and conduct a small experiment.

Unfortunately, they were seated at a blind spot of the camera, and no footage was found. The owner then proceeded to move onto the next alternative. The experiment!

Experiment time!

To prove their innocence, she took a video of them experimenting by leaving a condom in the boiling hotpot for 2 hours (the same duration that the customers were eating for).

After observing the hotpot during the whole 2 hours, the condom began to swell in the water due to heat and floated to the top. It had lost its original form and seemed to melt just like a film.

However, despite the results of the experiment, the man was still not convinced by it and continued to threaten the owner.

Here’s the twist!

Suddenly, the owner received a phone call from a noodle shop owner who claimed that the same exact person had come to his shop and caused problems too!

The noodle shop owner said that the man has been at his shop 3 times in a row and on the 3rd day, he claimed that he found a 3cm worm in his bowl of noodles and also asked for compensation.

They thought that it was weird for such a similar incident to happen twice in a row and not too long apart. Both the owners then decided to resort to the police and investigate what had happened.

The mystery was then debunked as they found out that the man had dumped the condom into the hotpot himself!

Hu, was apparently dissatisfied by the price of the hotspot and decided to blackmail the restaurant instead.

Following the revelation, he is now being detained by the police for 14 days.

Have you ever experienced such a thing, either from a customer or a restaurant owner’s point of view? Let us know in the comments section.
